Kristen Bell Talks Diet and Being a Vegetarian with SELF February 2012

Kristen Bell covers SELF magazine February 2012. The lovely 31-year-old 'House of Lies' actress dishes on her idea of a perfect Valentine’s Day, 'The Hunger Games', staying positive, but she also reveals her diet tricks and her favorite exercise move. Check out these highlights from Kristen's interview!

Kristen Bell covers SELF February 2012. The lovely 31-year-old 'House of Lies' actress dishes on her idea of a perfect Valentine’s Day, 'The Hunger Games', staying positive, but she also reveals to the magazine's readers her diet tricks and her favorite exercise move.
"Here's the one that packs the most punch. I call it The Bowler: Stand with your feet hip-width apart, and bend slightly at the waist, holding a 5-pound weight in your right hand. Squat, then swing your right hand up and left, across your body, and sweep your right foot to the left behind you, as if you're bowling. Do about eight on each side. It's amazing for the butt cheeks," the actress explains.

On how she splurges, Kristen confesses that, "Salted chocolate drives me wild. I'm not a big spender, but I do like buying kitchen tools. I've ordered all the ways you can cut a strawberry and that ring to cook an egg in a heart shape."

On her favorite way to relax, the beautiful actress admits that cooking is her solution. "I love to cook. I have a tiny Italian grandmother inside me. If someone walks in, I'm like, 'Let me make you a sandwich!' We all have a giving-love language and a receiving-love language. I show love by cooking. When people have patience with me, I feel so loved. Dax is extremely patient with me," Kristen told the magazine.

In the interview with SELF Kristen also reveals her idea of an ideal Valentine’s Day. "My perfect Valentine’s Day would definitely be sleeping in and not having a plan. I think there’s something really romantic about not planning and waking up and just being spontaneous," the actress says.

On what she eats as a vegetarian, Kristen reveals that, "I've been a vegetarian since I was 11, because I couldn't understand why if we didn't eat the dog I should eat a burger. I love animals, and I stand by my values. So in the morning, I have an apple and, if we have leftover pizza, I scrape the toppings into egg whites. Pizza eggs are better than you can imagine! For lunch, I'll have a big salad and a veggie burger."
She then continues saying that, "I'm a fan of multicourse dinners. Last night, I made brussels sprouts baked with balsamic vinegar, grapes and walnuts; butternut squash ravioli; and a 'garbage disposal' salad, which is everything in the veggie and fruit drawers: lentils, spinach, romaine, blueberries, cucumbers, raspberries, almonds, carrots and avocado. Literally anything. You don't even need a dressing because there are so many tastes."

As for what she does to work out, the gorgeous actress says that, "I mostly go for hour-long hikes with friends, but sometimes, I'll do pilates or 20 minutes of calisthenics, like push-ups and sit-ups. I go through spurts. Working out for me has nothing to do with body image — I refuse to look in the mirror and hate myself. My goal isn't to change my body; it's to make my body happy."

Kristen admits in the interview with the magazine that she stays positive through therapy and talking to her friends. "I love my therapist. When I have an issue that I need to work through, going to therapy gives me a bigger toolbox to do so. Talking with friends helps, too. I can say crazy things to my friends, things I'm embarrassed to admit, like 'I feel so ugly or worthless today.' They say, 'What? You're nuts!' Having good, real friends builds your self-esteem exponentially," she says.

On her habits of which she is most and least proud of, Kristen confesses that, "I'm proud of my patience. I've worked really hard to curb my natural impatience by realizing that everyone is doing the best they can. I'm least proud of my ability to be lazy and procrastinate by spending time on my computer or in front of the TV, watching America's Funniest Home Videos, the greatest show on television. To anybody who pooh-poohs it, I say, 'Just give it 30 minutes.'"

On whether she or Dax is the better biker, Kristen says that, "There's no comparison! I can barely walk in a straight line, let alone move in one when I'm on a vehicle that has wheels. Dax grew up as a dirt biker. He's always doing tricks that terrify me. Even so, we ride to brunch or dinner or ice cream all the time."
Asked whether she is witty like her characters, Kristen admits that, "No way. I'm not funny at all. I'm intensely serious. I mean, I'd like to think I'm funny, but I really can't guarantee that anyone agrees."

'Glee' Star Lea Michele Talks Fitness Routine and Being Vegan with Shape Magazine

Lea Michele sits down for a chat with Shape and reveals some of her secrets on staying fit, her favorite workouts, and her tips on being a vegan. Check out what the actress had to share with the magazine!

'Glee' star Lea Michele sits down for a short interview with Shape magazine and shares some of her secrets on staying fit and reveals her tips on being a vegan. The 25-year-old actress admits she goes 'back and forth' between being a vegan and a vegetarian and that it is important to listen to your body.
"Well, I go back and forth between [being a vegan and not being a vegan]. I try lots of different things. I really feel that you need to kind of listen to your body and what your body is telling you to eat. So I was a vegan for about two years," she says.

Lea also gives some tips and tricks for readers who may want to become vegan.

"Well, everything with being vegan and vegetarian is a really big commitment. You have to do what you feel is best and what you believe in and what your body is telling you that it needs. I really think everyone should do what’s best for them, and what’s best for me may not be best for someone else. But like I said, you just have to do what makes you feel good," the actress told the magazine.

The young star, who lost about 10 pounds in 2009 due to the dance rehearsals for 'Glee', says that she is not that strict with her fitness routine.

"Working out for me is something I do when I feel like it. But it’s really about feeling good and taking care of my body rather than having to fit into any sort of model or anything like that. I try to eat well, and everything I do is really just to make me feel my best so that I can come to my job or my personal life and just feel really good."

When it comes to favorite workouts, Lea says that, "Oh gosh, no, I’m simple. I love hiking, going to the gym, doing some simple stuff. I love being outdoors, I love bike riding. Just stuff that’s fun!"

Recently, the actress and singer promoted a new project by Valspar Paint called 'Hands for Habitat,' where the handprints of various celebrities were being auctioned off to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
"It’s such an amazing cause! We have all these handprints, which you can find on the Valspar Facebook page. You can bid on them and all the donations and proceeds go to the Habitat for Humanity Disaster Response Program. It’s really such a great thing that so many people have donated their handprints and have gotten super creative, although mine are definitely the best and should be bid on the most (laughs)," Michele told Shape.

Malin Akerman Talks Diet and Fitness Routine with SHAPE June 2012

Malin Akerman flaunts her bikini body on Shape's June 2012 cover. In the accompanying interview, the 34-year-old actress dishes on her diet and fitness routine, and she also reveals her splurges. Check out these highlights from her cover story!

Despite her super-busy schedule, with five films in the works and a new ABC TV series coming out this fall, Malin Akerman still found time to strike a pose for the latest cover of Shape magazine, the June 2012 issue. The 34-year-old actress, who admits to stepping up her diet and fitness routine before the shoot, says that, "There isn't a woman alive who doesn't have problems with her body," says Malin, "including me!"

In fact, the actress confesses that when she found out she'd be shooting a Shape cover, she kind of panicked. "I hit the bikini-panic button. When I'm not working or prepping for a role, I tend to relax my diet and scale back my workouts, so I wasn't feeling as fit as I like to be for a photo shoot," Malin explains.

However, even though at first she was rather nervous about going bare, Malin had a plan. "I'm not going to lie: I was born with good genes [her mother was also a model]. But when I overindulge, I can get a paunch in my belly. And I've always wished I had more beef in my booty," Akerman told Shape.
"I made sure that my diet throughout the two weeks prior [to the covershoot] was very much lean meats, like a lot of fish, a lot of vegetables," the actress says.

But how does one of the sexiest women in the world feel these days? "Great. I have a lot more energy and focus – not to mention self-confidence. Now when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, that's what I see reflecting back," Malin confesses.

The gorgeous actress admits that she's not into drastic diets. "No, no, no! I've never been on a fad diet or tried one of those crazy cleanses. I think they just mess up your system. I believe in eating as nutritiously as I can all the time - not just before I'm putting on a swimsuit. My mother raised me on fresh - rather than processed - foods, and that's how I eat on a regular basis," Akerman told Shape.

On drinking alcohol, Malin says that, "I love to drink wine, but when I avoid it, I have so much more energy – and that’s what I need when I’m focusing on my body."

In her interview with Shape, the beautiful starlet also reveals she's not that virtuous when it comes to her diet and she still has her splurges.

"Oh, believe me, I have my splurges. I can’t live without chocolate. Though I barely consider it an indulgence because it’s good for you. I also love a thick steak and french fries. I try not to eat them more than once a week, but if they somehow land on the table in front of me, I won’t hold back. You’ve got to allow yourself the things you enjoy or you’ll just be miserable," she told the magazine.

Jordin Sparks shows off her sexy bikini body on Shape's August 2012 cover. The 22-year-old songstress sits down for an exclusive interview with the magazine and opens up about her weight loss, her upcoming film debut in next month's Sparkle, working with Whitney Houston, and future plans. Take a peek!

Gorgeous Jordin Sparks flaunts her sexy bikini body on the August cover of SHAPE magazine. The 22-year-old songstress sits down for an exclusive interview and opens up about her weight loss, her upcoming film debut in next month's Sparkle, working with Whitney Houston, and her future plans.

"I knew I had a long road ahead of me. I was barely working out, and my diet was a mess. I had to address when, what, and how much I was eating," she says.

The beautiful American Idol winner, who managed to drop 50 pounds, confessed in the interview with Shape that she had a wake-up call at age 21.

Sparks admits that she realized that even though she was young, she was sick and fatigued, had walking pneumonia, and felt rather unhealthy.

"I just wanted to be healthy," she says. "I remember thinking, 'I'm in my prime. I should be happy and fit.' That was the moment I decided that changes needed to be made."

It seems that the young songstress tried different weight loss plans but nothing worked. From going vegetarian to more drastic methods such as the Master Cleanse, everything proved to be useless.

Even though it wasn't easy, Sparks told the magazine that she started slowly by walking around her neighborhood until she felt comfortable enough to try hiking. The next steps were to join a gym and took up Zumba. Besides, she also began to pay a lot of attention to her diet.
"The weight really started falling off, and I could see my muscles. It was awesome," the star confesses.

Now, Sparks admits she feels sexier than ever. Read Jordin's full interview in the August 2012 issue of SHAPE Magazine.

Bethenny Frankel Talks Diet and Being Honest with SELF May 2012

Bethenny Frankel covers SELF May 2012. In the interview with the magazine, the 41-year-old reality star dishes on diet and indulging, being honest and saying yes to your dreams, and she also shares some words of wisdom on how we can all get the work, love and shoes we deserve.

Bethenny Frankel graces SELF's May 2012 cover. Inside the magazine, in the accompanying interview, the 41-year-old Bravo reality star dishes on diet, indulging, being honest, and she also shares some "words of wisdom on how we can all get the work, love and shoes we deserve."

"I'm happiest when it's just us, like when I'm on the floor with Jason and the baby, making a tent with blankets. Right now, I'm looking for some peace. I'm not really sure what I'm doing anymore with reality TV. I experienced a miscarriage on TV. I didn't need that," she told SELF.
"Everything I do is to make a better life and future for Bryn," Frankel says of her 2-year-old.

Bethenny believes that loving your body is essential as self-confidence will always be attractive. "It's definitely not about being the skinniest woman in the room. That's not as sexy as looking like Sofia Vergara [at left], Christina Hendricks, Jennifer Hudson or anyone else who is rockin' her curves. People are attracted to confidence," she says.

Speaking about dieting, the reality star confesses that, "I used to starve, then binge, and I was 25 pounds heavier. I tried every diet from Beverly Hills to South Beach. Any diet that says to limit eating watermelon but processed protein bars are good means we've become stupid. Now I eat what I crave and make sure I'm having a balanced variety."

Bethenny Frankel Talks Diet and Being Honest with SELF May 2012

When it comes to exercising, Frankel says that the plank pose is really effective. "It's the best for getting flat abs. I do yoga two or three days a week for myself and for my state of mind. I'm not all caught up in my body anymore. How often am I strutting around naked? I exercise to get the kinks out, to feel healthy and to keep things not jiggly," she explains.

On realizing that there is no perfect, Bethenny Frankel admits that, "I'm confident because I know there is no 'right' way of doing things. So I stay in my own lane and do what I do. The more you see that your ideas work, the stronger you'll feel."

Frankel also suggests to send thank-you cards. "It's about networking. I've always been a connector and someone who hustles. I got on The Real Housewives by going to a polo match in the Hamptons, where I met the producers. I'd rather be shot than go to one now, but I cherish the RH experience," she told SELF magazine.

On fighting smarter, the reality star says that, "People say, 'Just communicate.' That's kind of BS. To have a strong relationship, you have to argue in a healthy way. Sometimes, you've got to back down. Don't escalate things, and don't bring up unrelated stuff."

Bethenny Frankel Talks Diet and Being Honest with SELF May 2012

Sharing her advice on how the smallest things can make a difference, Bethenny believes that it's always about staying true to yourself and don't fake it. "Power is not how bold you are or how much you say. It's about being true to yourself. Be the person you believe you are," she confesses.

Moreover, she says that saying yes to your dreams and don't accept defeat is also crucial. "People have said no to all my ideas along the way. No to my first book, which turned out to be a best seller. No to my Skinnygirl Cocktails. Never assume that anyone is smarter than you are. Trust your gut, and keep it simple," she told the magazine.

Kristen Bell Talks Healthy Eating with Women's Health April 2012

Kristen Bell covers Women's Health April 2012. In the interview with the magazine, the 31-year-old 'House of Lies' actress dishes on healthy eating, her favorite bonding ritual, the sexiest body part, swearing, and working with fiance, Dax Shepard, on their upcoming movie 'Outrun'.

Kristen Bell graces the April 2012 cover of Women's Health magazine. In the accompanying interview, the 31-year-old 'House of Lies' actress dishes on healthy eating, her favorite bonding ritual, the sexiest body part, swearing, and working with fiance, Dax Shepard, on their movie 'Outrun'.
"I would watch him walk back to the monitor and yell things such as 'Action!' or 'Cut!' and I’d just go, 'And you expect me to work when you’re doing cute things around me all day? How am I supposed to focus?," she says on the upcoming action comedy 'Outrun'. Dax Shepard wrote the film and co-directed with David Palmer.

On Dax's cooking, Kristen admits that, "He makes this delicious spaghetti dish... about twice a year. I wish he cooked more," she says, then immediately rescinds it. "I don't wish he cooked more. He's a very good cook, but I'm quite territorial in the kitchen. It's like, if I went outside and fixed the car, he'd be like, 'Whaaat?'"

It seems that for the past few months, the beautiful actress and her fiance have started their days with a 20-minute transcendental meditation session, sometimes holding hands. "We nauseate ourselves with how mushy we are," she says. "It's a wonderful way to connect," Kristen told Women's Health.

On Neutrogena natural purifying facial cleanser, which she's been the face of since last year, Kristen says that, "There are no phthalates, no parabens, and no sulfates. But it's just what you need to clean your face, so you're not sacrificing anything."

When it comes to swearing, the actress admits she is not afraid to use the F word. "I have a potty mouth. I’m not afraid to drop an F-bomb. I can love organic tomatoes and swearing – the two aren’t mutually exclusive," Bell says.

Kristen confesses she loves her 'House of Lies' co-star Don Cheadle's butt, which he fully bares on the show. "If you had those beautiful chocolate bun-cakes, you'd show 'em too, let's be honest," the actress jokes.
On butts, Kristen says that, "My favorite things on the planet. I want two round cupcakes, always. I kicked my buns and abs sets into high gear when I knew I'd have to be in my bra and underwear on House of Lies. But I don't show my crack! All the Mr. Skins of the world are like, 'Ooh, Kristen gets naked!' I'm like, 'Dream on!'"

The petite blonde also reveals her favorite quotes. "The one that I absolutely live by is 'No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.' If you really think about that, it blows your mind. Oh, I have to allow you to make me feel insecure? Well, I'm not going to allow that. It's just so deep," Bell told the magazine.

In the interview, the actress jokes that vegan food is "fart powder" and it "makes you gassy" and compares herself to "a little Italian grandmother." "Cooking is my love language, where there's the most amount of giving selflessly," she says.
On eco-cleaners, Kristen explains that, "Vinegar and water will clean anything: countertops, windows. If you want it to smell nice, add a couple drops of orange and peppermint essential oils for a minty citrus."

Zoe Saldana Talks Diet and Workout Routine with Women's Health

Zoe Saldana flaunts her toned abs on the cover of Women's Health Magazine, the September 2011 issue. In the interview, the 33-year talks about her training period for 'Colombiana', her eating habits and workout routine, and she also shares a few thoughts on her male costars.

Zoe Saldana is Women's Health September 2011 cover girl. In the interview, the 33-year-old actress dishes on her exercise routine, on the training period for 'Colombiana', and she also reveals a few things regarding her healthy lifestyle and her thoughts on her male costars. Zoe has recently graced the cover of three September 2011 magazine issues. You can find the beautiful starlet on the cover of Ebony, Women’s Health, and Latina. Besides, she was also featured in the GQ September 2011 issue.

Zoe admitted she is more like the boyish type and it seems that she has no restrictions whatsoever when it comes to interviews. The 'Avatar' actress dishes in the September issue of Women's Health on her midnight tattoo sprees ("We woke up the next morning and were like, 'That totally [bleepin’] happened!'?"), dietary quirks ("Call me crazy — I love elk meat!"), and deep appreciation for bodacious women ("Christina Hendricks? Gabow!").

The actress spent most of her early childhood in Queens, New York, and then moved to the Dominican Republic until she was 17 when she came back to the States.

The actress, who confessed she's more like a guy's girl, is playing Cataleya Restrepo in her upcoming thriller 'Colombiana'. Zoe started training five to six hours a day three months before filming doing a mix of cardio, light weights, core moves, and martial arts.
"Physical roles give me a chance to learn something new. Like the fact that I can grab a gun, disassemble it, and put it back together. I’m a girl from Queens. I’ve never gone, 'What am I doing today? Oh, I’m gonna grab a gun and learn how to use it,'" Zoe told Women's Health.

Now, the actress has already started working on her next film, 'The Words'. Still, she says she would love to take a break. "Too much work, not enough fun. I may need a year off to stay in bed and have the people I love screen my calls," she says.

Zoe also reveals a few things about her male costars. Speaking about her 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' costar, Orlando Bloom, the actress says that, "Orli is a real English gentleman. He can hang out with girls in the same way that he can hold his own with a bunch of guys."

With a fitness instructor mother, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley learned that dieting and exercise can be the solution to looking fantastic, and according to Grazia the actress/model isn't shy to break-a-sweat, as she's prepared to push herself to reach her goals.

To ensure she looks perfect every single time, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley turns towards the help of not one, not two but three personal trainers. The divalicious model shares her secret to a fab body with Grazia, where she reveals that nothing comes easy.

Rosie tells the magazine that it takes a lot of hard work to maintain her figure and that she turns towards the help of three personal trainers to stay fit. She reveals that:
“It takes lots and lots of hard work. I have three personal trainers- James Duigan in London, Jason Walsh in LA, and my friend Justin in New York. That means there's no excuse not to be at the gym wherever I go.”

Rosie was born and raised in England but recently moved to America with her beau, stud Jason Statham. She travels a lot, so no wonder that she wants to be able to maintain herself in top condition whether she's on UK or US soil.
Apparently, looking good helps Rosie keep her confidence level high, as she tells the magazine: “It's such a simple confidence boost and I find it really important, especially as I've got older.”

According Grazia, James Duigan revealed that Rosie has plenty of drive when it comes to getting what she wants because prior to Transformers: Dark of the Moon promo shooting, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley pushed herself once to do 18 workouts in just six days. Now that takes a lot of drive and ambition!

But exercise isn't the only key to a smokin' hot body, a healthy eating regimen is equally important according to Rosie, and she makes sure she treats her body well by eating healthy. She reveals that she watches what she eats and that she makes going to the gym a priority:
“Everything starts with exercise. Then you want to look after yourself and put good food into your body. I have a really good response when I cut out carbs so that's something I always do before a big event. Hollywood is really geared up for fitness. The gym is something I always prioritise.”
